The Hockey Winnipeg U13 Female Challenge Cup is for our top 2009 & 2010-born female athletes and is scheduled for April 4-April 10 at Allard arena. Female U13 AA All-star players are now eligible to register. You will have 1 week to do so. After 1 week, all remaining U13 AA female players will be allowed to register on a first come, first serve basis to fill the remaining spots.
Each player in the U13 Female Challenge Cup program will participate in 2 on-ice development sessions during the first four days of the program and participate in 5 games during the final three days of the program. The top players from the U13 Female Challenge Cup will then be invited to register for and participate in the Hockey Manitoba Female Prospects program taking place from April 14-April 17 at Stride Place, Portage La Prairie. Note, there will be an additional registration fee for the Hockey Manitoba Female Prospects program.

Being part of a team can be one of the most supportive environments to learn and grow as an athlete and as an individual. Teammates aspire to work together in harmony to achieve success, sometimes reaching a higher level than an individual could on their own. However, pushing both ourselves as athletes and our teams to improve can be a challenging process. Sport by nature can be competitive and fraught with conflict. Working with multiple personalities and strengths can cause friction, frustration and conflict between teammates. Male U13 (2009-born) AA All-star players are now eligible to register. You will have 1 week to do so. After 1 week, all remaining U13 (2009-born) AA male players will be allowed to register on a first come, first serve basis to fill the remaining spots.
Each player in the U13 Prospects Cup program will participate in 2 on-ice development sessions during the first four days of the program and participate in 5 games during the final three days of the program. The top players from the U13 Prospects Cup will then be invited to register for and participate in the Hockey Manitoba Rising Stars Plus+ program taking place from April 28-May 1 at Bell MTS Iceplex. Note, there will be an additional registration fee for the Hockey Manitoba Rising Stars Plus+ program.

Note, there will be an additional registration fee for the Hockey Manitoba Director’s Cup program.

Changing the way Canadian parents speak to their kids about sport
The online film called “The Ride Home” was created for this campaign. It offers parents and kids a first-hand look at an uncomfortable situation that some children find themselves in when their athletic performance doesn’t meet their parent’s expectations. While many parents feel they are teaching their kids “life lessons,” in reality they are taking the joy and fun out of sport.
In addition, The Ride Home website provides practical advice for parents on how to handle the ride home (and other issues in your child’s sporting life) in a positive manner.
