Hockey Winnipeg’s Female Council is excited to host a Female Hockey Day for all female players participating in the following grassroots programs: U7 House League, First Shift & Hockey Winnipeg’s U11 Recreational Program.

All U7 female hockey players, Female First Shift participants & Female U11 Recreational Program participants are invited to take part in a free 1-hour ice session at the Hockey For All Centre (formerly known as the Bell MTS Iceplex) on Monday, February 20th.

Registration closes Tuesday, February 14th.

ATTENTION : Hockey Winnipeg asks that teams and officials will no longer shake hands at the beginning and end of games. Teams are to line up on their respective blue lines at the end of games and salute each other by way of stick tap.

Also, officials will not be required to pick up broken sticks and mouth guards that end up on the ice. Coaches are to instruct players to retrieve their own broken sticks and mouth guards that end up on the ice.

These changes in routine will remain in place until further notice.

The Winnipeg ICE are launching an auction with select game warn jerseys with the net proceeds being donated back to the Dianne Woods Memorial Player Assistance Fund

Dianne is one of the most special and influential individuals in the history of this Hockey Community.  Dianne served many volunteer roles in the minor hockey system in Winnipeg and eventually became the Executive Director of the Winnipeg Minor Hockey Association.

Dianne believed that all children should have the opportunity to play the game, regardless of their financial background so she created a financial assistance program here in Winnipeg and she also started a golf tournament to raise money for this program.

Dianne passed away in 2011 but both the financial assistance program and the golf tournament live on in her memory.  Each season the Dianne Woods Memorial Player Assistance Fund supports dozens of hockey families here in Winnipeg, allowing kids to participate in minor hockey that would otherwise not be able to afford it.
