Hockey Winnipeg has opened up registration for the second half of the Rec Program to give players from First Shift an opportunity to continue playing!
U11 Rec Program – St.Norbert Arena (Saturdays 11:15AM and 12:30PM)
U13 Rec Program – Transcona East End Arena (Saturdays 3:45PM and 5:00PM)

Spring Program Dates Announced!
Hockey Winnipeg U13 Female Challenge Cup: March 18-24, East End Arena. Open to 2012 and 2013 born AA and A1 Female athletes in Winnipeg. Registration cost will be approximately $180.00/athlete. The top players from this program will be selected to advance to Hockey Manitoba’s Female Prospects program which will be held at Stride Place in Portage La Prairie from April 11-13 (additional cost will be required to participate in the Female Prospects program). Registration will first be open to AA Female players, all remaining spots will be offered to A1 female players from the 2012 and 2013 birth year. Please note the change in dates for the female program have been moved to March. ALL female AA and A1 playoffs will be over by then.
Hockey Winnipeg U13 Prospects Cup: April 7-13, Southdale Arena (East rink). Open to 2012 born AA Male athletes in Winnipeg. Registration cost will be approximately $180.00/athlete. The top players from this program will be selected to advance to Hockey Manitoba’s Rising Stars Plus+ program which will be held at the Hockey For All Centre in Winnipeg from April 25-27 (additional cost will be required to participate in the Rising Stars Plus+ program). Registration will first go out to 2012 born AA players and remaining spots will be offered to 2012 born A1 players.
Hockey Winnipeg U14 Cassidy Cup (VP Cup): April 7-13, Southdale Arena (West rink). Open to 2011 born AAA and AA male athletes in Winnipeg. Registration cost will be approximately $180.00/athlete. The top players from this program will be selected to advance to Hockey Manitoba’s Director’s Cup program which will be held at the Hockey For All Centre in Winnipeg from April 25-27 (additional cost will be required to participate in the Director’s Cup program). Registration will first go out to 2011 born AAA players and remaining spots will be offered to 2011 born AA players.

Manitoba Moose Minor Hockey Weekend
Hockey Winnipeg is excited to support the Manitoba Moose during their Minor Hockey Weekend. All Hockey Winnipeg male and female U9 A – U18 A level teams will have a day off during the Minor Hockey Weekend for their team to attend a Moose game! Players and Coaches receive complimentary tickets when booked as a team. Additional tickets for parents and siblings are only $22. This is a great team bonding opportunity and chance to experience some exciting AHL hockey!

1616: Mental Well-Being Program for U13 Players
1616 is the primary initiative of the Ladd Foundation, a Canadian registered charitable organization founded by 2-time Stanley Cup Champion, Andrew Ladd. 1616 is a FREE experiential program that is focused on mental, physical and social well-being for young hockey players and the people who support them. This virtually delivered program features story-telling from professional hockey players who teach 1616 concepts. Over the course of the season, 1616 will be a resource for parents and coaches to support the growth of their players both on and off the ice.

U11 and U13 Rec Program Registration Now Open
Hockey Winnipeg is excited to announce the return of the U11 and U13 Recreational Program in hopes of providing an accessible and inclusive introduction to the sport of hockey. The recreational program will run for 20 weeks from October to March and will consist of 1 ice time per week, every Saturday or Sunday (depending on location/division) with an emphasis on fun & skill development for 9-, 10-, and 11-year old’s. All skill levels are welcomed with no previous experience needed. Due to limited space availability, players cannot simultaneously play organized hockey and participate in the recreational program. The cost of the program is approximately $375 per player. Full equipment is required, including mouth guards. Jerseys and socks will be provided.
St. Norbert U11: Saturday October 12 – March 15 with the following possible ice times 11:15 AM, 12:30 AM and 1:45 PM
East End U11: Sunday October 13 – March 16 with the following possible ice times 9:30 AM, 10:45 AM and 12:00 PM
East End U13: Saturday October 12 – March 15 with the following possible ice times 3:45 PM and 5:00 PM

Beginner 3-Official Course: Referee
Location: Virtual, a link will be emailed to you 1-week before your course.
Dates & Times: This course will be run twice:
November 14, 2024, 7pm-10pm
January 11, 2025, 9am-12pm
This course will teach you how to use your Two-Official skills as a Referee. You will learn when/how to work the line & how to use endzone positioning. You will learn strategies to stay out of the way in the endzone and neutral zone. This course will also help you develop the ability to pursue the play and understand your goals while you follow the play up the ice. The instructor will teach you how to manage stoppages with your voice and eyes as well as how to call penalties to have maximum effect. Finally, you will learn about hotspots, presence, and impact penalties to help prepare you for the Game Management Course.
Sign up for this clinic if you have one year of experience as an official and want to develop your skills as a referee. You could also sign-up for this course if you want to improve your skills as a Linesperson by understanding the skills and roles of a Referee.

The instructor will teach you how to manage stoppages to reduce incidents. Finally, you will learn about hotspots and presence to help prepare you for the Game Management Course.

Intro to Game Management Course

Game Management is about more than penalty selection. Therefore, this course is designed to develop a range of skills needed for managing a hockey game:
Managing your emotions on the ice,
Using your presence and position to prevent incidents from happening,
Using non-verbal, verbal, and assertive communication,
Working with your partner(s) to prevent incidents,
Applying impact penalties and impact non-calls to maximize effect.

Beginner Two-Official System Course

This course will help you develop a better understanding of how the positioning of the two-official system allows two officials to maximize their coverage of the ice. Attendees will also be given the opportunity to better understand how procedures allow them to manage stoppages and reduce the risk of incidents from occurs. Finally, the two-official course will prepare officials to transition to the three-official system.

Three-Official Observation Game
Location, Dates & Times: This course will be run twice:
November 21, 2024, Time: 8:15pm, Location: East End #1
January 14, 2025, Time: 7:45pm, Location:Eric Coy Arena
This session will be a U18AA game using three officials in which participants will watch more experienced officials work the game.
There will be mentors watching the game with participants. Mentors are there to answer questions and explain what they are seeing on the ice.
